Original manuscript leaf from an illuminated manuscript of the Shanama or Book of Kings – one of the most famous of all Persian Manuscripts. Very fine calligraphy, in four columns of fine Persian Nastaliq script in bold black ink on creamy polished native paper. Margins ruled in gray and gold, with double column bars of gold. Headings are written in gold script surrounded by vine forms of gold, blue, and sometimes red. (Ref : Soudaver, Art of the Persian Court).
