This hand colored map was made by Adam and Charles Black for “Blacks General Atlas” published in 1841. The map features the eastern half of the United States. Note Virginia is un-split, unusual shape of Iowa and Wisconsin. Other details include the names of many cities, railroads, illustrations of rivers, lakes, and mountains. Regions are distinguished by pink, yellow, blue, and green outline color which is well maintained for the age of the map. The impression of the press used to engrave the map is still visible.
