The Geological Survey is making a geologic atlas of the United States, which is being issued in parts, called Folio’s. Each folio includes topographic and geologic maps of a certain area, together with a descriptive text.”Published by the United States Geological Survey in Washington. These folios include a great deal of information regarding the topographic and geologic structure of the cites and towns that are listed. This folio for Paw Paw and Hancock Quadrangles was published in 1912, written by George W. Stose and Charles K Swartz. Within the text description section of this folio are 11 small figure maps, all of various features, including rock structures, cutaways, drainage, and more. There are also several tables and charts explaining further details of the quadrangle (measurements in feet) and a chart of formation names and equivalents. Maps in this folio are: Columnar Section, Topography, Areal Geology, and Structure Sections. Also included are 20 black and white photos of foliage, rocks, soil, creeks, and other various features of the quadrangles. This atlas is in good condition with some small tears throughout, a library stamp on the cover. It is held together in its original paper cover.”
