This is an original manuscript leaf from an illuminated poetry manuscript by an unidentified scribe, from Persia, c. 1600. Very fine calligraphy, in two columns of Persian Nastaliq script in black ink on polished paper, sprinkled with gold. Margins ruled in blue, orange, green and gold, with column bar in tan wash enclosed by gold bars. Sectional divisions script are embellished with delicate floral designs on a gold ground.
