This is a single leaf from a Renaissance Treatise on Canon Law, in Latin, on paper 146x105mm. The manuscript’s predominantly legal content and lack of illumination indicate it was probably written for use by a law student in England c. 1510.Written in secretary-influenced chancery hand, 20-24 lines in brown ink. Calligraphic initial letters and rubrics are in red ink. Marginal guides to the scribe indicating which letters to color are still visible on the leaf.
