Original leaf from a medieval manuscript folio Bible with illuminations from the Johannes Grusch Workshop. Latin gothic script, hand written in brown ink, an animal vellum. Rubricated chapter numbers, initials and marginalia in red and blue. 5o lines of text in double columns. The large size of the page is unusual in 13th century Bible production!Four two-line initials alternating in red with blue pen-work, and blue with red pen-work – extending into the margins and containing the length of the leaf in red ad blue. This leaf contains the text from Osee ( Hosea) 1:8 – 6:3: Et ablactavit?”(And she weaned her that was called Without mercy?Come, and let us return to the Lord: for he hath taken us, and he will heal us?).
