Medieval Book of Hours Leaf c. 1325Original leaf from a medieval manuscript book of hours. 15 lines of ruled text, written in latin, on animal vellum. Written with dark brown ink, in small gothic book-hand, with rubrics (headings) in red. Two-line initials in gold on blue and red ground with delicate white tracery; one one-line initial in red with delicate purple pen work.This leaf was apparently made for a woman, as a sister leaf contains a painting of a woman patron (for other sister leaves, see Cleveland Museum of Art, The Blackburn Collection -#17-18)
