This is an original leaf from a 12th century Italian Glossed Psalter. The Latin text is written in a gothic script, on animal vellum, in brown and red ink. Fine and extensive interlinear and columnar glosses throughout!Recto continues Psalm 112:2-9: benedictum?” (Blessed be the name of the Lord, from henceforth now and forever. From rising of the sun unto the going down of the same, the name of the Lord is worthy of praise?). The large red initial “I” begins Psalm 113:1-8: “In exitu Israel?” (When Israel went out of Egypt, the house of Jacob from a barbarous people?). Glosses are comments of the main text, written in the margins or between the lines.This leaf is encased within a double sided mat within a sealed plastic envelope.
