Historical Tree to Enter the World, A Souvenir of the World’s Colombian Exposition, Chicago U.S.A., 1893. This fascinating poster showcases a kind of “family tree” for the new world and how it has grown up until this point, in 1893. The tree is symbolic of growth and its branches conform approximately to a map of the United States. In geological location are views of different state buildings at the exposition with exact portraits of each Governor, Columbus, Queen Isabella (his patron), and other important faces and names. At the top of the margin are world rulers who in some way, contributed to the exposition. Underneath each portrait and building is a small letter or number–at the bottom of this illustration is a key that pairs each letter or corresponding number/roman numeral to the portrait to which it belongs. Not only is this a beautiful and interesting print, it is also educational.
