This black and white, antique coastal survey was made by the United States Navys Hydrographic Party. The surveys provide sailing instructions and notes on important characteristics of the area mapped. Depth readings, descriptions of bottom materials, light houses and important cities along the coast are identified on the survey. These charts show areas that have likely undergone significant changes due to modifications and recessions of coastal lands, making them fascinating to anyone interested in local geography and history. This coastal survey, produced in 1853, shows Sabine Pass in Texas. Texas Point, Louisiana Point, Brant Point are identified, and a note shows the location of a proposed light house.
