This is an amazing book if you are interested in the Civil War. Almost all the maps in this book were drawn during the Civil War by engineers, draughtsmen and occasionally by the generals themselves for actual military use. Originally published in 1891 as the Atlas to Accompany the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies it contains a collection of maps and other illustrations. The Atlas was intended to supplement the earlier publication of the official documents of the Civil War entitled War of Rebellion: A Compilation of the Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies (often referred to as the Official Records or O.R.). The Atlas includes 821 maps, 106 engravings and 209 drawings. The introduction was written by Richard Sommers. Gramercy Books, New York, 1983. Originally published in 1891. Excellent condition with dust cover.
