The Geological Survey is making a geologic atlas of the United States, which is being issued in parts, called Folio’s. Each folio includes topographic and geologic maps of a certain area, together with a descriptive text.”Published by the United States Geological Survey in Washington. These folios include a great deal of information regarding the topographic and geologic structure of the cites and towns that are listed. This folio was published in 1945, written by Charles Butts. Included in the text portion are several tables and charts of the quadrangle, and small maps of south central Pennsylvania and part of adjacent states, and a map of central part of the Appalachian Highlands showing its physiographic divisions. Maps within this folio are: Columar Section chart (generalized section of the rocks in the quadrangle), Topography, Areal Geology, and Structure Sections. This folio also includes 27 black and white photos of rocks, soil, or other formations in various sections and mines of the quadrangle. This atlas is in good condition with small tears throughout and is encased nicely in its original paper cover.”
