There is a long and glorious history of English county maps, here we see a set of beautifully simple, refined and distinctive maps that cover the timeless English countryside with amazing detail. This set, published in the 19th century in ‘sidney Hall’s Travelling Atlas”, affords us a rather handsome view of the counties, updated to Victorian England. Showing towns, villages, roads, railroads, parks, as well as topography, they portray the region with many specifics, but with a neat clarity. Each map is hand colored to distinguish county boundaries and their parks. Condition is good with some minor age toning in the margins, and minor browning to the fold.
