We are proud to offer this map of the City of Newport, Rhode Island, published by Everts and Richards in their “Atlas of Rhode Island” in 1895. These fine, large-scale maps show buildings, large property owners, roads, railroads, public buildings, bridges, stage lines, electric car lines, churches, which buildings were wood, brick or stone, barns, stables, icehouses, telegraph offices , and fire houses. These maps offer an amazing look at turn of the century Rhode Island towns. This map shows the area from Newport Harbor on the northwest to the “Breakers” mansion on the southeast to Bath Rd, which appears to be the current Memorial Blvd) on the northeast all the over to Newport Harbor on the northwest. What can I say about this other than it tells an amazing story about turn-of-the-century Newport. So much on this map. Please call with any questions.
