This rare French map was made by Jean Covens and Corneille Mortier circa 1720. The map, entitled “Hemisphere Occidental”, is in good condition with bright hand coloring of the Americas and many islands. The north-west coast of North America was unmapped above Lake Superior, as were the coasts of both poles. A partial coast of New Zealand is included on the map. Some important voyages are identified by the name of their leader and their dates.
Condition: Very Good-age toning, some light smudges
