China Map from Japanese Meiji Period – #06 China to Japan

We are excited to offer what may be some of the scarcest material we”ve offered. Translators confirm that this map is probably from the early Meiji period in Japan (1868-1912), and we assume it to be prior to the Sino-Japan war, giving us an approximate date of c. 1880. Printed on a very strong, yet light tissue paper, this wonderful hand colored map is probably one of the most uncommon items we”ve seen. This simple thematic map features the nation of China, and reaches to include all of Korea and part of Southern Japan. A simple depiction of Taiwan is shown just off the southern coast. The condition of the map is very good.
