This beautiful hand-colored map is from Mons. DAnville’s “A Complete Body of Ancient Geography”. D’Anville was a member of the Royal Academy of Belles-Lettres, of the Academy of Sciences at Petersburg, and Secretary to the Great Duke of Orleans. All of the maps contained in the atlas were “materially improved, by inserting the modern names of places under the ancient” and published in 1812 by Robert Laurie and James Whittle, London.
