M. F. A. Garnier made the “Atlas de Geographie” in 1862. The maps in this atlas would frame nicely due to their extraordinarily beautiful hand coloring and title plates and their large margins. Northern Africa is illustrated on this map with pastel coloring. Insets show the Canary Islands, Madere, Acores, and the islands of Malte and Gozzo. The names of regions, possessions, important cities, island chains, mountains, rivers and lakes are identified in French.
