This is a majestic map of the continent. Produced by H. DuFour in the mid 1860’s we see a land being settled, with the remaining areas being explored and charted. This masterful steel engraved map gives us a macro view of this part of the world, yet with an amazing attention to detail. Throughout the US we see uncommon territorial borders in the west, as well as notations for cities, towns and Indian tribes. In present day Canada, there is an abundance of topographical information for the interior as well as the northwestern territories. Alaska is still shown as a Russian possession. Off the coasts we see currents, as well as some notations for seasonal wind directions. This is an amazing reference and uniquely large map of the continent.
