Asia
In stock
An intriguing map of the continent showing, what was then, a land of mysteries. While portions were basically understood, such as India and parts of China, much of Asia was generalized and not yet explored. Areas such as Thailand, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia, are here listed as “Farther India” and are shown as little more than sparse rivers, and a handful of towns. Likewise the interior of China, here shown as “Chinese Tartary” is mostly speculation. Notably the northern areas of Siberia are shown as the indigenous lands “Government of Tobolsk” and “Government of Yakuts”. This is from a rare set of maps that we havent seen in the last 20 years and makes this a uncommon opportunity. An interesting map in good condition.
