These fine, large-scale maps show buildings, large property owners, roads, railroads, public buildings, bridges, stage lines, electric car lines, churches, which buildings were wood, brick or stone, barns, stables, icehouses, telegraph offices , and fire houses. These maps offer an amazing look at turn of the century Rhode Island towns. So much on this map it is hard to describe. Newport Harbor in amazing detail from Dennison St on the southwest to Battery St on the northwest. Map details east to Eastons Pond, also labeled Newport Water Works Reservoir. Easton Beach shows original Pavillion, Bath Houses and strangely a building noted as Powder House. This map is an documents an important period in Newports history….
