Chart of the American arctic expedition
In stock
This black and white, antique coastal survey was made for the United States Coast Survey. The surveys provide sailing instructions and notes on important characteristics of the area mapped. Depth readings, descriptions of bottom materials, light houses and important cities along the coast are identified on the survey. These charts show areas that have likely undergone significant changes due to modifications and recessions of coastal lands, making them fascinating to anyone interested in local geography and history. This coastal survey, produced in 1852, shows triangulation between points on Galveston Bay. Some margins are very small due to the way surveys were bound.
