This coastal survey was made in Washigton D.C. by the U.S. Coast and Geodetic Survey on February 7, 1945.New London Harbor and the vicinity in Connecticut is illustrated on this map. A large inset shows New London to the Naval Reservation at a larger scale than the main map. Details include depth readings, the names of important cities along the coast, some important buildings, railroads, topography near the water, and major roads. Most recent Corrections, pipeline and cable areas, bouys, beacons, and lights are stamped on the map Notes on the map read: Warning: Aids to navigation may be altered, interrupted or removed without notice. In general, temporary changes due to war conditions are not incorporated on the chart. Caution Improved Channels- The side limits of the improvement are shown by broken lines. The controlling depth through the channel, on the date given, is placed in or alongside the channel, or in a seperate note, but no depth greater than the project depth is given. Because of possible shoaling, particularly at the edges, it must not be inferred that the depth stated exsisted throughout the entire width of the improvement on the date of the examination unless so stated, or that it has not since decreased in places across the entire width. Defensive Sea Area The Waters within the indicated limits o this chart are part of a Defensive Sea Area. Unless proceeding under United States naval supervision, vessels shall not be navigated in this area except during daylight under conditions of good visibility, and then only by specific permission. Vessels opperating under United States Naval orUnited States Coast Guard routing instructions or licenses are considered to be opperating under United States naval supervision.
