This hand colored map was made for “Mitchells New General Atlas” published by S. Augustus Mitchell, Jr. in 1868. Ireland with borders showing provinces and counties is illustrated on the left map. The right map shows Scotland with an inset of the Shetland Islands. Counties are distinguished by color. Other details include the names of counties, and important cities, rivers, lakes, mountains, and railroads. The maps in this atlas have beautiful color- more muted than typical.
