This large hand-colored, steel engraving was made for the “Atlas Universel” by H. Dufour in 1864. South Western France is illustrated on this French map, showing the routes of Chemins de Fer. An inset shows Bordeaux at a greater scale than the main map. Beautiful pastel coloring distinguishes regions. An inset shows the environs of Paris at a greater scale. The names of regions, and important cities, rivers, lakes, mountain ranges, major roads, and railroad lines are given.
