This unique and beautiful map was published in 1888 by the U.S. Hydographic Office. This map is unlike others and shows the Maritimes, covering the three provinces of Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island with a portion of the east coast of Quebec. The bright colored portions of this map indicate the the limits under the fishery treaties. The key explains it as, “the fisherman of the United States have the right to take fish of every kind on the coasts colored”, and “they also have the right to dry and cure fish in the unsettled bays, harbors and creeks of the coasts covered”.
