Map of the Dan River from Madison N.C. to Danville VA. at a distance of 49 miles; showing work done to June 30th 1887. Surveyed under the direction of S.T. Albert, U.S. Agent by S.W. Evans, Asst. Engineer, January 1879. This interesting river map points out many shoals and various rock reeses’s along the route along with different natural and man-made features such as Settle’s Bridge, Lone island, Allens Ford, Danbury Bridge, the town of Leaksville, and the border line between North Carolina and Virginia, among others.
