Map of the Railroads of New England

This hand colored map is from “Grays Atlas of the United States with General Maps of the World Accompanied by Descriptions Geographical, Historical, Scientific, and Statistical”, published by O.W. Gray in 1975. The railroad systems for the states comprising New England are illustrated on this map. An inset shows Eastern Maine at the same scale as the main map, but reoriented to the lower right conrer. Details include counties distinguished by vibrant pastels, rivers,lakes, hills and mountains, railroads, and the names of states and important towns. This map is remarkably well preserved-with only slight age toning along the edge of the page and exceptionally bright coloring.
