The Novissima Artesiæ Comitatus Tabula (Latin for “Newest map of the County of Artois”) is a late‑17th‑century printed map of the historic Artois region in northern France, produced by the renowned Danckerts family in Amsterdam. This map shows incredible illustrations of the most prominent forts and walled cities during the time, including Cassel, Calais, Boulogne, Lille, Abbeville, Dourdens, Saint Omer and many more. Justus Danckerts (1635–1701) was a prominent Dutch mapmaker and publisher based in Amsterdam during the late 17th century, known for his finely engraved and richly detailed maps. As a member of the renowned Danckerts cartographic family, he produced a wide range of regional, national, and world maps, often characterized by elaborate cartouches and meticulous geographic accuracy. His works, including the Novissima Artesiæ Comitatus Tabula, were widely circulated in atlases and as standalone sheets, reflecting the artistic and scientific ambitions of the Dutch Golden Age of cartography.
