A well-engraved and attractive map of Brazil, which emphasises the impenetrable and unknown nature of the interior of Brazil compared with the heavily named detail for the coasts and areas of Paraguay, to the south, where Jesuit missions are identified. The elaborate title decoration shows native figures with tobacco pipes, produce and foliage set against a mountainous background. Impressive engraving with original color.
