This 1913 map of the California San Francisco Quadrangle shows the San Antonio formation, the Alameda formation, the Campus formation, the Moraga formation, the Orinda formation, the Briones sandstone, the Rodeo shale, and the other various marsh deposits and shales throughout the California San Francisco quadrangle. It labels faults and concealed faults, and organizes the formations by their contents of sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous rocks. The map shows parts of Alameda, Emery, Oakland Harbor, Berkeley, the University of California, San Antonio, San Pablo, Pinole, San Quentin, Barrett, Sobrante, Presido, Giant, and what was Rancho San Pedro, Santa Margarita y Las Gallinas (southeastern San Francisco). Other notable locations listed include Golden Gate Park, and Alcatraz Island. This map features neighborhood grids, railroad lines, ferry lines, and bodies of waters throughout the area. A very insightful map to anyone interested in geology!
