This hand colored was made for “Mitchells Modern Atlas-drawn and engraved expressly to illustrate Mitchell’s New School Geography” published in 1873. The Eastern Hemisphere is illustrated on this map, as well as the lenghts of major rivers, the heights of major mountain peaks, and the Antarctic Zone from a polar projection. Countries are distinguished by color. The names of countries, important cities, major water bodies, mountain ranges, and rivers are provided.
