Printed in 1890, this coastal fishing chart was published from the British Admiralty and French Marine surveys by the Hydrographic Office. This chart covers the Maritime region around the Gulf of St. Lawrence showing Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, and Prince Edward Island. The colored portions of the map indicate: all waters frequented by mackerel, principal fishing grounds for cod and halibut, extent of all important fishing grounds, inshore fishing grounds granted the United States by treaty of 1818, herring fishing, and cod and halibut fishery. Other information on the map details annual fishing in pounds, area, and dates of certain fishing trips. There is also a small chart that explains the abbreviations used.
