This map, which accompanied a Senate document in 1883, shows a “Proposed Wood & Timber Reservation. for Fort Thorn burgh, Utah”. The fort was short-lived, replaced by Fort Duchesne after the abandonment of Fort Thornburgh in the winter of 1884-5 due to after an outbreak of inter-band warfare among the Utes.
