This rare and unique map was produced by inventor and amateur mapmaker John Fitch. He made and engraved the map himself, and printed it in Philadelphia on a self constructed cider press. Fitch depicted the Old Northwest carved into ten proto-states as specified by the Land Ordinance of 1784.
