Charleston’s 19th century growth beyond its colonial boundaries is clearly evident in this large and handsome colored lithograph by C.N. Drie. The Courthouse and City Hall, facing the first public square laid out two centuries earlier, are separately shown in vignettes on either side of the extensive legend at the bottom.
