This fine map covers downtown Boston prior to the Back Bay landfill projects; it extends from the South Boston Bay to the Charles River. Parts of Cambridge, Charlestown, and East Boston are also included. The map labels all streets, piers, parks, railroads, ferries, and important buildings. An illustration of the harbor – complete with trees, sailboats, and sailors – rests in the lower left corner. In the opposite lower corner, Watkins illustrated the Bunker Hill Monument.
