Spherical globes of the Earth and Celestial sphere were first mass-produced by Johannes Schner in the 16th century, using a process of printing map details on 12 paper gores that were cut out then pasted to a sphere/globe ball. This process is still often used today. The gores are conveniently made to each have a width of 30 degrees of longitude matching the principal meridians from the South Pole and North Pole to the Equator. These globe gore maps are unique and a beautiful way to view the world in a different perspective. This particular globe gore shows the entire world. It also has an inset of an Analemma, showing the suns declination and position in the zodiac for everyday of the year.
