This 1724 map of Hispaniola by Amedee Francois Frezier shows part of Puerto Rico, Cuba, and other islands in the Greater Antilles. In the inset in the top left corner, the map shows a plan for Saint-Domingue. The map shows plans for a college, a hospital, a chateau, and cathedrals. Cartographic elements include a cartouche and a compass. Some French notes from the cartographer rest in the upper right corner. Amendee-Francois Frezier was a French explorer, mathematician, spy, and engineer who was best remembered for introducing beach strawberries from South America to France.
