This map is scaled at 1:90,000 and was published in 1885. This beautiful, vibrant map showcases natural features such as peaks, valleys, bays and more. Some of these features include: Crater of Haleakala, Lahaina, Kahului, Hanakaoo, among many others.
To help understand this map better, it reads: The lands comprising the public domain are now classed as public lands. Formerly, they were of rwo classes (1) the Crown lands being reserved by Kamehameha III for his private use in the great division of 1848, which have now been transferred by descent, couveyance and legislation to be part of the public domain and (2) Government lands , the revenues from which were to be used as maintenance of the government. The Crown Lands are colored yellow and the Government Lands are green.
