Cadastral map showing landowners and plantations with names of owners. Persac was a well known surveyor and landscape painter in the 1850s. There are only a few remaining original copies of this map and most are in poor condition because most copies were used by the river pilots to locate plantation landings. Few copies are known to exist, but one is still used today by the Louisiana Supreme Court in disputes over land ownership cases. This map has amazing details, showing the plantations on both sides of the river. It also has four engraved views.
