This vibrant lithograph of St. Louis was published by Currier and Ives in 1874 to coincide with the opening of the Eads Bridge across the Mississippi. A legend at the bottom locates major buildings throughout the city. The foreground detail is particularly important for it’s depiction of the busy steamboat landing and blocks along the river that were cleared sixty years later to create a national park.
