This map was produced in 1848 by Charles V. Monin, a French cartographer and publisher, as part of his “Atlas Classique.” The quality of this map is unsurpassed by other maps of this time period. This Solar System Table shows, as written in French: “Presentant les orbites des planetes projetees sur le plan de l’orbite terrestre et leur point d’aphelie” (Showing the orbits of planets projected onto the plane of the Earth’s orbit and their point of Aphelion). Also shown is the Zodiac wheel with all the zodiac signs and their respective symbols. This poster is made even more alluring as the French writing gives it an antiquarian feel.
