This hand colored map is from the “Atlas de Geographie”, made by Felix Delamarche in Paris, 1856. Major explorations by sea and land are illustrated on this well maintained French map. A list beside the map lists principal explorers, the year of their most important discovery and that location. Pastel colors were used to distinguish regions. Other details include identification (in French) of regions, important cities, rivers, lakes, and mountain ranges.
