Igor Sikorsky, a native of Russia, was known as a builder of the largest bombers for Russia during the WW1. After WW1 he settled in the US and turned his attention to building large passenger planes. The Sikorsky S-42 trans-ocean flying boat was completed in 1934. It carried 32 passengers and a crew of four.
