Artist Alexander Deyneka was a Soviet painter, sculptor and teacher who studied under V.A. Favorskii. He worked primarily as a graphic artist for magazines, he wanted to express the new attitude of the Soviet man. This vintage ski print for the cover Vanity Fair, January 1936 depicts a skier in midflight as onlookers gaze from below.
