Black Hawk, Looking up Gregory and Chase’s Gulches

In stock

Artist Alfred Edward Mathews (1831-1874) was the first to document early Colorado. His most famous book, Pencil Sketches of Colorado, is where these prints come from. Mathews was an advocate of the territory and traveled throughout Colorado to create realistic, detailed depictions of the towns, mountain ranges, mining, and various street scenes. Known for their precision and beauty, these prints have become some of the rarest and most sought after works done of Colorado. Originally published in 1866, these are lithograph prints done in a limited edition of 1000 and are exact reproductions of the originals. Each print is numbered. We are pleased to offer 9 of the prints and encourage you to browse the others for they make a great set for any history of the West collection or Colorado lover. These would make great framed pieces for any room.
