This outstanding Chromolithograph was published by the Revue de L’Horticulture Belge”,in 1880. Belgium Horticulture Revue was published monthly from 1875-1914 with information about botanical subjects including new varieties of plants and other related information. This Azalea was lithographed by P. de Pannemaeker, a leading botanical artist of the time. This particular print is of a species of Phylloxera Vastatrix, commonly just called phylloxera, is a pest of commercial grapevines worldwide, originally native to eastern North America. These pale yellow sap-sucking insects, feed on the roots and leaves of grapevines and are almost microscopic.
