Map of the Principal Countries of the Ancient World
Out of stock
This hand colored map was made by Adam and Charles Black for “Black’s General Atlas” published in 1851. The principal countries of the ancient world from the Alps to southern Egypt and from Carthage to Persepolis are illustrated on this map. Insets show the Persian Empire and the Roman Empire at a smaller scale than the main map. Details include the names of countries and many cities, and illustrations of rivers, lakes, and mountains. Regions are distinguished by pink, yellow, blue, and green color which is well maintained for the age of the map. The impression of the press used to engrave the map is still visible.
