This hand colored map is from the “Atlas of Illinois” published by the Union Atlas Company (Beers and Warner) in 1876. Perry County is illustrated on this map. Insets show the towns of Carmi and Nashville at a greater scale than the main map. Details include the names of towns and important land owners, and illustrations of borders, streets, rivers, and lakes. A note from the publishers in the preface to the atlas states that they hold that this atlas “will be recieved as the most valuable and complete compendium of information, in all various departments embraced, that has yet been published in Illinois.
